We Win the Second Chance in Alabama/KJ2 goes rounds at Big Jakes Race

Weekend Recap: Over the 2nd weekend of September the Clemens Motorsports Team headed over to Big Jake Promotions Race in Ferris, Texas. A prepped grudge race with our name on it. The event was SLAM packed! During the burnout Cory literally ran people over to do it. The prep was as great as it gets. Until 5 in the morning when everyone was tired and people started getting lazy. So needless to say we got staged on a bald spot on the track and spun.

Once we got kicked out of the shootout we packed up camp and headed on over to the fifth race of the Radial Outlaws Racing Series, the Alabama Bama Slama !!! This race allowed for us to get some good testing in. As this race kicked off we had a great time. As the first round came about we had put some good laps down and we were confident going into it. But where we qualified at it lined us up with a pretty good heavy hitter. And we just quite did not have enough in it for him. This bumped us to the second chance bracket and we were the only car that went down that loss so we ended up getting a bye.

Builders Brawl was a Huge Success/KJ2 Team No Preps on RADIALS!???

Joe Zolper and his guys did an exceptional job on their first event and we here at Clemens Motorsports can not wait for what’s to come. Builders Brawl is a race like nonother it is strictly a race for drivers that built their car from front to back (NO Endless Checkbook Racers). We went in knowing that the prep was not going to be good but when we got there we had second thoughts, there were still bugs and rocks on the track, they did not even broom it! From that moment on we knew there were a lot of adjustments to be made. And we figured it out, fairly quickly for going down your uncle’s driveway with 5,000 Horsepower. In the end the more laps you give the KJ2 team down a drag strip the more our competitors hate us; Prepped or No Prepped

SCSN TEXAS “The Grudge Edition” Recap

After a long weekend of testing at the St.Louis ADRL event with the humid air and no wind, the KJ2 team headed south to the SCSN TEXAS “The Grudge Edition” race being held at the Texas Motorplex. The track was about an 8 out of 10 for a radial prep, but was a hit or miss the whole weekend. Coming back to the pits every round to figure out a tune up was like hitting a fly with a tennis racket. The KJ2 team did end up coming around and figuring out how to lay some numbers down putting a lump in the other racers throats. After winning the first round and getting the bye in the second, we kept the morale and high energy up as we continued to pluck racers off until the finals. Tragedy struck though as we had a mechanical failure in the burn out of the final round. Our first final with this car in only less than 10 races! It was a very sad and disappointing moment, but it was out of our control. Sadly…that’s racing. But the KJ2 team did come home with a nice little check and a shiny new plaque to hang on the wall. We are working on fixing the problem so it never happens again, while also building our program to be beggar and better as always. But for all the KJ2 fans don’t worry, we will be back to putting on the baddest races and to snatch that WIN!

2020 Race Season Recap

The 2020 race season was a rough and unnatural season for not just the Drag Racing community, but the motorsports industry as a whole. It was an outlandish experience we all did not want or expect to deal with in the severity it came to. The lack of ability to have a substantial amount of races while keeping the purse high due to restriction of fans was hard on the promoters, tracks, and racers. As this was our debut season with the King of the Jungle 2 it had its pros and cons. We were able to find more available times to test and really make some good headway on the car. We were also able to find the Jungle Virus (how ironic) and add it to the team while making it our own. And we were able to test and race both cars at a manageable pace in the 2020 season. But like everyone else, we agree, there is never enough racing. So as we look to the 2021 season to make up for what was lost, we are excited for the new race season to start so we can all go back to going fast and having fun… again.

She’s fast and making laps

After all that is happening with the Corona-virus, we finally got a chance to take the car out and have a proper test session at World Wide Technology Raceway. it was a private test session that had an amazing prep, which offered the perfect opportunity to focus on the car and not the track. we made a lot of great runs, our best being a 4.28 @ 178mph, and look to be hitting the track and winning races.

PRI was a success

The 2019 PRI show was a total hit this year! Attendance was higher than expected and people were all over the place. We talked to a lot of amazing people and make a lot of great connections. The car gained a lot of exposure as people were taking pictures and helping this car go viral. Everybody was excited and looking forward to seeing it run this season. Nitro Gear & Axle had a awesome booth this years, as always, and made for an amazing experience for finally unveiling the King Of The Jungle 2 car. Couldn’t have asked for a better company or group of people to work with as we are now looking to getting this car to the top and winning some races!
